Well, where do I start with Mrs Wormwood’s hair? Apart from the fact that it is huge, both in size and in the amount of work involved.
It can take up to half of my working day to get it ‘show ready’ and admittedly I have more often than not asked two other members of my team to get involved too! This wig is made up of three separate sections.
The base wig, which is hand made using one hair at a time and there is also three metres of added hair that is removable that makes up the top and the back of the wig to create the volume.
It takes three wig dressers to set all the various parts (usually a metre each plus the base wig) in rollers before going in the wig oven to dry. Once dry, the hair is painstakingly curled, section by section before being ‘built’ to create the look.
Oh.. and it weighs approx. 3 and a half kilos once complete (all the hair grips required to keep in the extra hair help with this weighing fact)
Poor Mrs Wormwood, she has to dance and be flung upside down whilst wearing it !
